The Seattle Art Museum invited the general public to the community celebration and unveiling of MIRROR, a permanent art installation for the facade of SAM by artist Doug Aitken that will become a new landmark in downtown Seattle. Permanently sited on the façade of the Seattle Art Museum, MIRROR is an urban earthwork that changes in real time in response to the movements and life around it.

At the Unveiling of MIRROR, guests experienced an unprecedented performance with synchronized choreography of MIRROR in relation to compositions by minimalist composers Steve Reich and Terry Riley.

Alabama Shakes opened the show, followed by a stirring performance of “Because the Night” by Patti Smith. Natalie Maines & Ben Harper, Ken Casey, and Zac Brown with Mavis Staples all took the stage before Mumford and Sons’ quiet yet powerful rendition of “I’m on Fire.” Other performers included Jackson Browne, Tom Morello, Emmylou Harris, Kenny Chesney, Elton John, Juanes, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Jim James, John Legend, and Sting.

Bruce took to stage with a five-song set to close the night, ending with a celebratory finale featuring all of the night’s performers on “Glory Days.”
